Panafrikos žaidynės statusas T sritis Kūno kultūra ir sportas apibrėžtis Afrikos žemyno šalių žaidynės, kurias rengia Afrikos aukščiausioji sporto taryba. Pirmosios Panafrikos žaidynės įvyko 1965 m. Brazavilyje (Kongas). Jose dalyvavo daugiau kaip 300 sportininkų iš 30 šalių. Atgaivinti senovės žaidynių tradicijas bandė Egipto paša Mohamedas Taheras 1918 m. Tada Aleksandrijoje buvo pastatytas pirmasis Šiaurės Afrikos sporto įrenginių kompleksas. Jau buvo parašyti kvietimai pirmųjų Panafrikos žaidynių dalyviams, tačiau anglai sutrukdė įgyvendinti planus. Antrosios Panafrikos žaidynės įvyko 1973 m. Lagose (Nigerija), trečiosios – 1978 m. Alžyre (pastarosiose dalyvavo 5 tūkst. sportininkų iš 45 šalių), ketvirtosios – 1987 m. Nairobyje (Kenija). Į Panafrikos žaidynių programą įeina 10–12 sporto šakų varžybos, tarp jų visada būna lengvosios atletikos, plaukimo, bokso, dviračių sporto, dziudo, krepšinio, futbolo, rankinio, tinklinio. atitikmenys: angl.
